You’re invited to help us revitalise the coastal heath and woodland at Fingal south on the Tomaree Coastal Walk.

Join the Fingal crew, a newly formed group of the Friends of Tomaree National Park, for just a couple of hours in the morning, Saturday 21 June, and if you wish, on Friday 27 June too. Help make a difference to the integrity and resilience of this part of the fantastic scenic walk.

we’ll be removing invasive weeds like Bitou Bush and also doing a little planting in the barer areas.

Afterwards, you’re very welcome to stay for a simple morning tea, supplied. Please just bring your own cup. 

In the afternoon, you may want to look for whales here or on other section of the Tomaree Coast Walk. 

Our bush regen is in consultation with the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

We’ll mainly be working on Bitou Bush, Lantana and Ground Asparagus, focussing on those areas that are easier to recover where invasive weeds are just starting to starting to smother native plants. In the long term this will make the site more resistant to re-invasion from Bitou Bush and other exotic plants, providing a stable and long term home for the abundant wildlife we have (and want to keep!) around the Tomaree Peninsula.

Your contribution is a big step in our combined long term project to remove invasive species from the Fingal headland, south of Barry Park, along the Tomaree Coast Walk. In some areas natural regeneration will occur, in others we’ll watch and give a helping hand and provide locally raised native plants and improve the resilience of this coastal bush.

• Saturday morning, 21st June and / or Friday 27 June, arriving 8.15am please
• Please arrive 15 mins before start time for sign on and equipment.
• Afterwards you’re welcome to stay for morning tea.
