EcoNetwork Port Stephens presents the Sustainable Futures Festival 2022 including the aRRRRRt Awards, movie screenings, wildflower walks and culminating in the Festival Day on 11 September 2022 at Salamander Bay, Port Stephens.


Festival Day – Sunday 11 September starting at 10am.

Sustainable Futures Festival – for inspiration, innovation & conversation

11 September 2022 from 10am-4pm at St Philip’s Christian College, Salamander Bay, Port Stephens.

Our inaugural festival will showcase environmental innovation, sustainable living and the different ways in which nature enriches our lives. Our speaker program is headed up by Professor Veena Sahajwalla, the 2022 NSW Australian of the Year famous for her eco-friendly technologies for converting waste into valued products.

Come and explore practical ways in living more sustainably in your community. Our tent talks will include diverse subjects like using recycled plastic to make furniture or driving an electric vehicle as well as fun stuff for kids of all ages!

Events you missed!

EcoNetwork Port Stephens launched its Sustainable Futures Festival at a Gala Dinner held at Saltwater Restaurant, Fingal Bay on 4 June 2022. It was a wonderful night where EcoNetwork members, affiliated groups and friends let their hair down with special guests Artisan Collective, Asher Larkin’s Refit Fashions and music from Jude and the Dudes. The movie Ocean was a sellout event on 29 June at Nelson Bay Cinema. It showed us the sustainability of our seas and what the future holds for our magnificent Port Stephens Marine Park.

Movie Screening – RIVER – Thursday 28 July, a film by Jennifer Peedom. A cinematic and musical odyssey that explores the remarkable relationship between humans and rivers. River’s intent is a spectacular musical journey as well as visual. The film is a collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Also featuring vocals from indigenous musician and performer William Barton, and music by Jonny Greenwood and Radiohead, narration by Willem Dafoe.



aRRRRRt Awards – Entries open 4 June – 5 August.

A special collaboration between EcoNetwork Port Stephens and Artisan Collective Port Stephens presents the aRRRRRt Awards, part of EcoNetwork’s Sustainable Futures Festival.

Open to everyone in the community, we’re encouraging you to put the R into art: rethink, reduce, reuse, repurpose or recycle – and you’re invited to enter visual media of your choice such as painting, wearable art, photography, ceramics, multi-media, jewellery and more.

Categories are – Peoples Choice, Open, Secondary School and Primary School with a combined cash pool of $1000 and other prizes.
