Are you worried about a future for yourself and your children on a warming planet? The movie 2040 has an inspiring message of hope about the environment. It shows us there are many ways for us to deal with the climate crisis and begin repairing the damage right now. The innovative movie 2040 is a great opportunity for families to share a positive learning experience and enjoy a complimentary drink ,popcorn or ice-cream with pizza. EcoNetwork Port Stephens is offering a viewing of the movie 2040 on Thursday 2 December.

“When the opportunity came to hold a community showing of the 2040 movie, we engaged with Port Stephens Council who are supporting us with this family program” said Sue Olsson, EcoNetwork Port Stephens’ Vice-President. Domino’s pizzas and Nelson Bay Cinema discounts are also supporting the event.

The movie’s message is made for families and people everywhere, not for scientists, about how we can create the momentum, through our choices, to create change and innovation at a higher level.

“We are encouraging families to join us at 6pm on Thursday 2nd December at Nelson Bay Cinema for a community showing of this entertaining and uplifting documentary, structured as a visual letter blending dramatised sequences and high end visual effects, from a parent to his child” said Sue.

Following the movie there will be a short Q&A session where movie goers can ask a panel of well qualified community members questions about how they might help the community to map a path towards an ecologically sustainable and equitable future.

The movie showing is a lead in event to the Sustainable Futures Festival – organized by EcoNetwork Port Stephens – which will be held next year in May at Tomaree High School. The festival will showcase environmental innovation, sustainable living and the different ways in which nature enriches our lives.

Sue added that “… one of the key drivers for sustainability and regeneration is community education, and the Festival’s hands on experiences will be the best way for our Community to explore endless possibilities. We will be inviting community and businesses to get onboard and exhibit their products, services and programs.”
