Hunter and Central Coast at the coalface of transition, biodiversity in the balance. Nature Conservation Council Regional Conference

June 1 June 2

The Hunter and Central Coast region is fearlessly tackling the challenges of the renewable energy transition.

Can this coal hub lead the way to a clean energy future?

That’s a question that is being asked across the state and so we’re happy to announce this year’s theme of the conference: Hunter and Central Coast at the coalface of transition, biodiversity in the balance.

We are partnering with so many local groups who are working together for a just transition that balances protecting and restoring nature and biodiversity, continuing the momentum of the clean energy transition and securing the future of energy jobs.

Join us to explore what it means for the Hunter Central Coast to be at the ‘coalface of the transition’. The Conference will be a chance to collaborate with other energised and determined people to ensure a future where the environment, nature and climate are at the core of future planning and renewables are done ‘right’.

Alongside our co-hosts, we will:

  • Facilitate information sharing, skill development and collaborative planning to influence community practices, influence government and effect change. Can the Hunter Central Coast be a test case?
  • Share and celebrate nature in the Hunter Central Coast and the wins that have been made.
  • Showcase local nature, climate and sustainability action and “out of the box” thinking.
  • Provide opportunities for connection between organisations, groups, and conference attendees and strengthen working relationships.

The conference is being held at the Glenrock Scout Camp, Whitebridge, where there’s limited economical bunk-style accommodation.

Cost: $45 Includes Saturday morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and Sunday light refreshments, with free tickets available for First Nations people and U25s
