  • Green & Gold Bell Frog Education Session

    When: June 30, 2022  6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Where: 4MFW+96 Hunter Wetlands Centre, Shortland, New South Wales Event Details


    You're invited to join Hunter Region Landcare Network on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 for an evening of education about one of our local endangered species - The Green and Golden Bell Frog (Litoria aurea). You will learn about the value of Kooragang Wetlands National Park & other local habitats, threats to populations, mitigation strategies, as well as on-ground conservation works you can get involved in. 

    This event is a collaboration with NPWS, with expert representatives from University of Newcastle & other groups. 

    Light refreshments will be supplied

  • Movie Screening - River

    When: July 28, 2022 Where: Nelson Bay Cinema, Cinema Mall, 23 Stockton St, Nelson Bay NSW 2315, Australia Event Details

    A film by Jennifer Peedom. A cinematic and musical odyssey that explores the remarkable relationship between humans and rivers. Written by Robert Macfarlane with music by Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO). Also featuring music by Jonny Greenwood and radiohead, narration by Willem Dafoe.

    $20 per person and includes one free candy bar selection and a chance at the lucky door prize.

  • Squirrel Glider Habitat Relief

    When: August 13, 2022 Event Details


    The Hunter Community Environment Centre invites you to join them in the field on Saturday June 11 to install nest-boxes and plant food-trees for Squirrel Gliders in Newcastle.

    Squirrel glider (Petaurus norfolcensis) populations in the Hunter region are facing immense pressure from habitat fragmentation and loss.

    This project, funded by the City of Newcastle will support the provision of essential habitat for gliders and resource participants with the knowledge and resources needed to shape more ambitious conservation outcomes for this unique threatened species.

  • Enjoy a short wildflower walk in Tomaree National Park

    When: August 13, 2022  1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Where: Meteorological Station Link Trail, Nelson Bay NSW 2315, Australia Event Details

    Tomaree NP boasts a wonderland of winter wildflowers, especially along its sandy heathland areas.  The Friends of Tomaree National Park, as part EcoNetwork Port Stephens Sustainability Futures Festival, will lead the walks. 

    Each walk is an easy circuit on fairly flat sandy tracks, shade is variable. The walk is 1 - 1.5 hrs.  

    Participants will be advised of the meeting place closer to the walk dates, depending on what is flowering. The walks will be in the northern end of Tomaree National Park. Most likely opportunities are off Tallean Rd, Nelson Bay, or near the Fingal Bay Sports Club. Closer to the time we will check out the wildflowers!
