EcoUpdate: Reminder 30 May – Save Mambo Wetlands

Mambo Wetlands is under threat – FROM OUR COUNCIL

You may be aware Port Stephens Council intends to develop 3 areas around the Tomaree Library and Community Centre – which form part of the ecologically sensitive Mambo Wetlands buffer zone protected by State legislation and many of Council’s own policies, including its own Comprehensive Koala Plan of Management?

Join us at the Mambo-Wanda Wetlands Conservation Group Community Forum this Saturday 30 May to hear about what is proposed, the impacts to the Mambo Wetlands and alternate ideas to produce much needed housing without destroying our precious wetlands.

BE THERE – Sat 30 May 2pm

Is history repeating itself?

Is Council maximising the value of Council-owned properties to the detriment of our natural environment – in retaining koala habitat, endangered ecological communities, and protecting the wetlands? How can Council act as land-owner, applicant, approver AND the authority looking after the public interest, socially and environmentally?

They simply cannot!

Why is council repeating the past >>

Help STOP further destruction of the Mambo Wetlands

Please sign the petition calling on Port Stephens Council to urgently STOP the sell off and development of environmentally sensitive Council land around the Mambo Wetlands and the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre.
